Women's St. Elias Bib

Built for the professional skier or rider who spends 100+ days in the mountains every season, the St. Elias bib is the matching pant in our big mountain system. Redesigned for 2022 with our new Täsmä precision response fabric, a waterproof, stretchy and highly breathable fabric, with the perfect balanced fit - roomy enough yet not baggy or draggy. With the highest quality components and construction throughout, the St. Elias bib keeps your mid- and lower body dry and snow-free during long days in the mountains.

Intended to provide extra cover in deep powder, the upper bib portion can be unzipped and the pant worn on its own. In refining this piece over 10 years, the designers have obsessed over every detail. Articulated knees combined with Täsmä’s stretch provides a huge range of motion for bending and climbing without constriction.  The upper bib has a velcro phone/map pocket and is fully removable for fast and easy nature calls or wearing the pant on its own. Double zip thigh pockets are designed to fit a transceiver (with lanyard). Two-way slider zips on each leg allow for quick ventilation while skinning or hiking.

The total mountain bib/pant is ideal for the touring-oriented skier (highest breathability) with enough durability and features for heavy days of lift-serviced pow shredding.

Wearing St. Elias Bib and Jacket over our Diomede superfine merino baselayer, and Lightstream on colder days, offers a complete protective, thermo-regulating, and full-body stretch system, eliminating the need for extra bulky layers.

Size: XS-L

Weight: Size Medium weighs 535g / 19oz.

Fit: We would call the St. Elias fit an all-mountain fit – looser, more comfortable than an alpinist fit. With enough room for layering. Usually, true to size fit. If you are on the smaller end of your size, or prefer a snugger fit, sizing down often works well.

Model Measurements Model is a slim 5'8" wearing a size medium.

Beringia St. Elias Jacket & Bib

"Comfortable and performance-focused for deep days.

Never heard of Beringia? You’re not alone. The brand that’s often seen in the endless powder of Japan is coming stateside, and the St. Elias kit offers a good perspective on what to expect from this Tokyo-based company with a brand-new Bozeman, Mont. office. Inspired by the intrepid souls who first crossed the Bering Strait from Siberia to Alaska, the brand looks to innovate from both the technical and design aspects. The St. Elias is a Polartec Neoshell piece suited to powder days in-bounds and out. It’s incredibly light and boasts a knit backer plus outer slash vents, helmet-compatible hood, and backpack-friendly chest pockets. The ladies of the office appreciated the zip-off bib—sometimes pants get the job done, too."

Outperforms Arc'teryx

As a life-long skier in very cold conditions and die-hard fan of Arc'teryx, I was a little hesitant to try Berengia. Wow, I was instantly blown away. I don't know how a fabric can be both more breathable and warmer, but it is. It's also more comfortable and has more practical design elements (where pockets and zippers are located) to contain more warmth when you need it, and let it out when you don't. If you're a serious skier looking for high-performance clothing, this is your brand. I'm 5'6" 130 lbs, I got the XS pant and S coat. both are plenty spacious for underlayers.

Bib-a-lucious!

Like the jacket, these bibs hit all the marks. I’ve worn bibs before and was reluctant to go back to them because I found them too hot while touring and hard to peel layers when needed. Beringia has figured it out! Including a total zip off of the bib. The waist zipper is great for ease of access when needing to pee and a standard front zip if standing is your thing; The back of the bibs are mesh to help prevent overheating/sweating with a pack on; I love the two chest pockets - one Velcro (super easy to access phone) and the other zippered for more secured storage. Two pockets on the thigh for transceiver and snacks, and great vent zippers. I telemark and I love the articulated knees with a bit of stretch in them! All that and they are incredibly light weight! With the jacket, it’s an awesome tour set up. I wear a 4 or 6 and went with the small. The Dark Navy is nearly black. I got the jacket in Aziki and the color combo is beautiful. It is definitely an “investment” at the price point but I can tell this set up will last me a number of seasons.

Best bibs

Paired with the St. Elias Jacket 2.0, this is the best shell system I've ever owned. It is both comfortable and functional, breathable for hiking, and protects me from the elements. I love the quick-access velcro phone pocket, chest zip pocket for my cash/chapstick, and beacon pocket. The waist zip is also easy and functional so I can take the pants on & off without taking all my upper layers off : ) The shoulder straps are soft and comfortable with my backpack too. I'm 5'4", 130lbs, and wear a small, which gives me enough space to layer underneath without being too big. I've been getting loads of complements on the entire kit too !

Breathable and Comfortable Ski Bibs - Recommended

I had the privilege to test the bibs out before their launch this fall. I'm an avid skier/boarder (50+ days) and wore these the entire season, from Nov to May. I'm impressed with the overall function and fit, the breathability & stretch of the NeoShell fabric was incredible, even with many layers on cold days, hiking and skitouring I never got overly hot and sweaty - a noticeable difference.
The pants never tore from ski edges (as other ski pants have done quickly in the past). I have worn and tested most major brands, usually by the end of the season I have broken snaps and zips, however, I've had no failures on any fasteners to date. Shoulder straps are well positioned and soft under a pack. The chest pocket holds my cell phone with easy velcro access (I take a lot of pictures), the other zippered chest pocket is my safe go to pocket for cash.
The two thigh pockets are well positioned and practical, hold the transceiver well within fast reach - and keep the transceiver far enough apart from the cell phone.
Thigh zippered vents are great for easy venting on hikes and tours; they align well with the Altai insulated short vents (I wore them also during dec-mar everyday on the ski hill).
The waist zipper works well and smoothly!
I'm 5'8" 135lbs, and can wear a S in both jacket and the bib for general fit, but the M is better for the pant leg and the sleeve length for me. I also got a good amount of compliments on the look/fit on the whole outfit, which is always great :)
