Favorite Layering Addition

The layer I didn't know I was missing and now can't do without it. Goes over your entire shell system to quite literally add a layer of warmth and eliminate heat loss from taking off the shell to add layers underneath. The locking zipper cuffs and extra large pockets are ideal functional additions, along with its small and efficient packability. Warmest puffy I've owned, making it perfect for extreme elements, snowy adventures, and my walk to campus.

Lovely piece of kit

The locking zipper on both sleeves, the pull lock on the hood (front and back) mechanism. everything is super light weight and highly functional. The pockets on the front can fit skins, gloves, a small iPad even..made for jamming stuff in and gaining altitude. Easily the best jacket I've ever purchased. Its runs one size big, intentionally so, as the jacket is designed to go over all of your layers in the field (or on my way to coffee).

Warmest jacket

I used this coat all last week in Vermont - temperatures were 5-15 degrees and this jacket was incredible. So light and comfortable, but unbelievably warm. Extremely good price for this level of warmth and sophistication.

I gave the Altai quite a workout this week. 30-40" of fresh Hokkaido pow on the ground, temps in the low teens, wind coming from all directions and steady snowfall all day, the jacket blew my mind. Kept me the perfect temperature with only a wool shirt and light base layer underneath and remained dry the entire time. It's so light it feels like it couldn't be this warm. This was the piece I was missing in my kit.
