from 568 reviewsThe Täsmä made me faster on my switch overs while touring (going from ascent to descent mode). How you might wonder? The massive pocket in the front is the key feature. After ripping off the skins they go straight into this XXL pocket and I forget about them and focus on the next steps to get ready to ride. I'm 5'11" and I ordered size M and it is roomy and doesn't hamper any movements. I really enjoy the silent fabric even with the hood on I can hear whats going on around me. Like whoompfing in the snowpack or snarling fisher martens in the trees. I give it a ten out of ten. I'm selling my Arcteryx jacket asap.
I got myself the black version, I like it a lot for ski touring or on the aprés ski patio. I barely feel it and it dries fast. And a nice bonus is the compliments I get for the graphic design on it.
Seriously I have every weight icebreaker long sleeve ever manufactured….. same with Duckworth Smartwool and mons royale. The duckworth maverick series WAS my favorite baselayer until this beauty arrived a few years ago. I purchased my first diomede hoody from backcountry.com and I was shocked how it performed. This baselayer is like a spider web that you throw over your dome. When I opened the XL I said “no way is this going to fit me “ no way Jose”. I am 6 feet 235 46r chest 36-38 waist and amazingly it fit. I want my baselayer to be semi snug/tight. This baselayer has an incredible amount of stretch. Seems like the more it’s stretched the more it contours to your whole body. Unfortunately I am always cold 🥶. Had some car trouble on a 5 degree day with just this diomede hoody and a thin Mammut jacket. I was expecting to be frozen by the time the flatbed finally loaded my vehicle. A good 25-40 minutes in 5 degree weather and I’m not saying I was overheating but i definitely was not freezing. The price is obviously not cheap and I totally understand some might not be able to make this work for their budget. I was lucky enough to get my first one at sale process from backcountry but do not expect to get the XL on sale anytime soon in the future. I have never seen this hoody for sale other than beringia and backcountry. Oh and let’s talk about the odor control. I rock this thing for months in a row daily from sept/oct until April. I wear it underneath a slim fitted wool vest when golfing in April (Massachusetts) and it performs amazing. The criss cross weave of the fabric will lock in some heat while allowing the moisture/heat to escape so u do not feel moist AT ALL. I have brutalized my diomede for two years and I have 1 small tiny hole on the chin aspect of the Ninja hoody and that was from being too forceful trying to find it under some other layers when I was ice fishing in single degree temperatures. I purchased 2 of this new restock December 2025. I wear the old one daily still and I wear the brand new one when going out for the night. I needed an extra one probably because of some pad 😆 but honestly it’s more from anxiety that the xl will sell out (like it did). Now as far as care for this item. I hand wash in cold water and once everything is rinsed I just twist all the water out of it and stretch the shirt as much as I can. Hang it over anything and it’s perfect! Never ever ever ever dry this thing. Even on low heat. The process from hand washing to drying is maybe 2-3 hours. Throw a fan on it and it’s probably 1 hour to dry. I have the non hoody and I like it but I will only buy the ninja hoody to cover my 52 year old bald dome. From Massachusetts…”this thing is wicked killa” just buy it and be enthralled like the rest of us …BBB
daughter wore for seven days skiing big sky and she loved it. She skis hard and it not only looked great, but is comfortable and durable.
Not only is the color a hit but the soft waterproof fabric and simple yet well thought out design is ideal for a everyday shell. Durable enough for any weather yet versatile for any outing.
Soft, yet durable and waterproof material. Well integrated pockets, bathroom zips, and belt loops, plus a wide cuff that fits nicely over ski boots. Everything you could hope for in a bib.
This layer is perfect for any occasion! I wear it almost every day on the ski hill underneath my St. Elias shell but also use it for grocery store runs, coffee shop visits, and touring outings where items that are warm and lightweight are a necessity.
I purchased this hoodie and have yet to take it off for about 2 weeks now I love it so much. The thickest and heaviest cotton hoodie on the market I have found. I looked for a long time to find this exact hoodie. I don’t like fleece material and this is the best cotton texture inside and out I have ever felt. The oversized hood works great for skiing in the spring too and covers a helmet no problem. I also like the lack of drawstring that always ends up coming out in the wash, ripping, or tangling. Very high quality product and I am about to buy one in every color and throw my other hoodies away.
Size, weight, warmth, color, stretch, look -- literally the perfect beanie.
Amazingly comfortable and warm. Inner pocket is a great idea.
I've put this through some mulit-hour XC skis for the past few weeks on cold days and it breathes better than any jacket I've ever used while keeping me comfortable and not too swampy. The hood fits perfect and it feels like wearing air - well done!
The fabric quality, craftsmanship, and style are incredible. These shirts are my top choice for winter wear. Whenever I wear this shirt, I often get compliments on the style and color. I believe this shirt will stay in fashion, and with its high quality, it will last a lifetime in my wardrobe.
Well done Beringia!
Bought this in the Bozeman showroom! Could not be more pleased with my first-ever ski shell! Worth every penny.
Softest and most comfortable sweatshirt I own! Love the front chest embroidery.
